Learning from the “TED Talks” (Be INSPIRED – for “free”)!

In Technology on 23/02/2011 at 3:17 pm

Over the years, one of my favourite sources of inspiration has been the “talks” I find at the TED website – Ideas Worth Spreading!

And they certainly are!

TED is a small non-profit organisation devoted to “learning”. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Guess where they got the name from?

You can find so many things at the site – but I love a few more than others:

  • One of my favourites is “Adora” – just goes to show what kids can learn us!
  • Another one is “Dave and his bricks” – if you love IT, engineering or learning, you’ll love this!
  • Of course, I could not mention the TED Talks without a nod to “Ken Robinson” – the one-man-learning-army!

Basically, just have a virtual wander…………… will NOT be disappointed. Neither will your students, if you use them in class!

My thanks to Aybike for inspiring this post – and for being so inspired herself (by John Hardy and his Green School) that she jumped a plane and went to Bali…..

  1. This is Ken Robinson’s 2010 “encore” : Bring on the learning revolution!

  2. Now, all we need is to find where Turkish John Hardys are:). Maybe they are the readers of this blog?

  3. Built it and they will come – [just to show you what a “geek” I really am!}
